The ever-changing healthcare landscape has resulted in a critical need to educate physicians in all areas of the medical profession. The School of Management at Boston University has responded by offering an executive education program designed to meet the needs of physicians – those building private practices as well as those employed in a hospital or other health setting.
Beginning in November, the Pocket MBA for Physicians will provide an intensive business oriented education with a medical focus, designed to help solve some of the most important challenges resulting from rapid changes in the field, including new technologies and modifications in regulations. This program is designed in collaboration with the School of Medicine at Boston University.
This innovative program is designed with the demanding schedule of today’s physician in mind. For two days during November, February, and April, participants will learn the core areas of business while addressing issues faced by physicians today. The Pocket MBA for Physicians will be held on Fridays and Saturdays offering minimal disruptions from work schedules. Participants will also work on a strategic implementation project between modules that will allow them to apply what they have learned to create concrete value in their actual work settings.
”Physicians have always been pivotal in the care-giving system,” explained Mark Allan, Faculty Director. “However, in today’s world they are increasingly facing issues of business and management that impact the care they give and the way they operate their practices. We want to give physicians the tools and skills that will allow them to not only respond effectively to management demands but provide leadership in molding the next generation of care systems. Our ultimate goal for this program is to support physicians in providing the best patient care possible within effective organizations that provide positive settings for their work.”
The Pocket MBA for Physicians incorporates best business practices from the healthcare industry and other professional arenas to provide physicians with a powerful set of tools and skills. The final module will provide physicians with the opportunity to attend the sessions which are the most applicable to their professional discipline. Whether building a private practice or in a position of leadership in a hospital setting, physicians will be able to focus intensively on the specific issues and skills related to successful implementation in each setting.
Physicians will acquire skills to help them:
* Analyze the needs of patients and practice.
* Evaluate/manage the control systems of clinical operation.
* Establish optimal health record systems to increase patient satisfaction.
* Master a variety of proven management techniques.
* Develop strategies crucial to delivering the best patient care while maintaining the highest standards of the organization.
Boston University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Boston University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 41.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
