Language Weaver to Host Event Showing Why Machine Translation is Making a Comeback

Attendees to Gain Understanding of Statistical Machine Translation, Its Benefits and Steps for Successful Deployment, Hear from Language Weaver Partners with Integrated Solutions

Language Weaver, a leading software company developing enterprise software for the automated translation of human languages, with several of its integration partners, will host a one day event on the benefits of statistical machine translation (SMT) for companies and translation providers that want to better understand the impact of this evolutionary methodology. The complimentary event will be held Monday, October 15, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Edgewater Hotel in Seattle, one day before the Localization World conference.

Language Weaver will focus on the benefits of statistical machine translation, requirements for a successful deployment, and how to calculate savings the software can deliver. In addition, company partners across Systems, Clay Tablet Technologies and Idiom Technologies, all of which have integrated Language Weaver software into their translation management applications, will present their integrated solutions.

Cross Language, Language Weaver’s European competence center, will present the advantages that a linguistics asset audit has on an SMT implementation.

Other presentations include the following:

* The advantages of implementing SMT into a translation workflow
* How to leverage translation memory and existing legacy documents to quickly create high-quality translation systems
* The requirements for a successful customization
* How to calculate ROI based on a company’s cost and throughput.

The event is designed for companies with high volume translation needs, translation and language service providers, and technology providers interested in integration. Space is limited for this event; interested parties can register online by October 10 or can contact Language Weaver directly at 310-437-7300.

across Systems, a spin-off of the well-known Nero AG from Germany, is a central software platform for all corporate language resources. The system simplifies, accelerates, and improves the management, coordination, and implementation of translations. Their presentation will demonstrate and discuss the new features of the across-Language Weaver collaboration in across Language Server v3.5.

Clay Tablet Technologies, a provider of innovative translation workflow software, will demonstrate how its integration software gets customers’ existing applications connected for greater efficiency, from CMS (content management systems) to translation memory to Language Weaver’s automated translation.

Idiom Technologies, the leading independent supplier of SaaS (software as a service) and on-premise server-based globalization management systems (GMS), will present the new features of WorldServer 9 and demonstrate the Language Weaver integration with this latest release.

Cross Language, Language Weaver’s European competence center, brings together skills for customization of machine translation and translation workflow systems, system integration, software hosting, training, technical support, program management and consulting. They will explain the benefits of a linguistics asset audit and the impact it can have on the implementation of an SMT solution.

Kirti Vashee, vice president of sales and marketing for Language Weaver says, “This event came about because of the growing interest we receive from companies that are considering using SMT. The presentations will walk attendees through how SMT works and the benefits it provides. We have learned much from our interactions with our first localization customers and we think it is useful to share this information. This technology has the potential to transform the translation industry and we hope that attendees will take advantage of this opportunity to learn how to leverage their own translation activities by investigating what SMT is all about. Translation is now often seen as a key driving force for international business initiatives and we think the emerging partnership of human translators and this technology will become a driver in how global companies interface with their multilingual global customers.”

About Language Weaver, Inc.

Language Weaver was founded in 2002 to commercialize a unique approach to automatic language translation using proprietary statistical translation algorithms that resulted from research and development at the University of Southern California’s Information Sciences Institute (USC/ISI). Its resulting product, statistical machine translation software (SMTS), provides the highest quality output to date in automated translation. Language Weaver’s translation systems produce fluent, natural sounding translations and save customers money and time through automation of the translation process. The company has more than 50 patents pending on its SMTS technology worldwide. Language Weaver licenses a server version of its software, currently available for 37 language offerings.
