Company kicks off second year initiative to benefit college-bound students
Cumberland Farms today announced the second year of its Believe and Achieve Scholarship will begin October 1, 2007. The program provides individual $1,000 scholarships to eligible graduating high school seniors living in the company’s service areas.
The Believe and Achieve Scholarship program is open to students who live within 30 miles of any Cumberland Farms outlet in the Northeast and Florida and who are entering college in the fall of 2008. The scholarship program is also open to children of Cumberland Farms employees. While the initiative takes academic performance into account, the award also considers the student’s financial need.
“There are a tremendous amount of bright students who need help easing the financial weight of a college education,” says Cumberland Farms CEO, Lily Bentas. “That is why we’re so proud of our Believe and Achieve program. Last year we were able to help 79 motivated students, by assisting in the costs of paying for books or tuition. We’re looking forward to being able to help more again this year.”
Eligible high school seniors are encouraged to apply as soon as the application period opens on October 1. Information about the Believe and Achieve Scholarship, including entry criteria and deadlines, is available online at www.cumberlandfarms.com, as well as in all Cumberland Farms’ store locations.
